NATO Foreign Ministers meeting in Oslo 26–27 April 2007:
Ocean Futures Delivers Maps and Thematic Studies of the Northern Areas to the Norwegian Atlantic Committee.

The Norwegian Atlantic Committee will have its own information stand at the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Oslo 26–27 April 2007. The foreign ministers from all NATO members will attend in addition to about 550 delegates. Some foreign ministers from non-NATO countries have also been invited. The meeting will be covered by some 400 Norwegian and foreign correspondents.

Maps of the Northern Areas
The Norwegian Atlantic Committee will present maps of the Barents Sea and northern areas - and maps of the four northernmost counties of Norway. The maps were delivered to the Atlantic Committee in April 2007 and were produced by the research company Ocean Futures of Oslo. The maps covering the northern areas have received one of the world's most prestigious cartographic prizes - The British Cartographic Society Award (The BCS Award).

In designing the maps, special emphasis was put on multifaceted depictions. The environmental map, for example, shows how oil and gas activities, fisheries, and shipping lanes intersect and relate to each other.

Thematic studies
Ten studies of the northern areas have also been produced at the request of the Norwegian Atlantic Committee. These will also be available at the meeting. Correspondents will for example receive a full set of the studies upon registration.

The studies are produced by Ocean Futures, which is responsible for the content.
